Videography is the art and practice of capturing moving images on video, often for the purpose of storytelling, communication, or entertainment. It involves the use of cameras, lenses, and other equipment to record, edit, and produce video content that can be used in various mediums such as film, television, online platforms, corporate videos, documentaries, weddings, events, and more. Today, we’re going to go over some of our favorite cameras for filming, keep in mind that these are based 100% on our opinion and knowledge of the products, you most definitely could find great video results from other cameras but these are our personal favorites in no particular order.
Sony A7S III: This full-frame mirrorless camera from Sony is known for its excellent low-light performance, high dynamic range, and impressive video capabilities. It can shoot 4K and even 4K 120fps video, has excellent autofocus, and offers a wide range of professional video features.
Panasonic GH5/GH5S: These Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras from Panasonic are highly regarded for their video capabilities. They offer 4K video at high frame rates, excellent image stabilization, and a wide range of video features, including high-bitrate recording, timecode support, and V-Log profiles.
Canon EOS R5/R6: Canon’s full-frame mirrorless cameras, the EOS R5 and R6, are known for their advanced video capabilities. The EOS R5 can shoot 8K RAW video and 4K video up to 120fps, while the EOS R6 offers 4K video up to 60fps. They both have good autofocus performance and offer a range of video features.
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K/4K: These cameras from Blackmagic Design are designed specifically for video production and offer impressive image quality and dynamic range. They shoot in Blackmagic RAW, have built-in ND filters, and offer a variety of professional video features, making them popular choices for videographers.
Sony PXW-FS6: This is a professional-grade camcorder from Sony that offers excellent video capabilities, including 4K video, high frame rates, and built-in ND filters. It has a modular design, making it highly adaptable to different shooting situations, and offers professional audio options.
